1. Accident are not planned and certainly not wanted. But when they do happen, it is important that information from them is gathered in a proper and logical manner.

2. Accident Investigations can help employees to improve their risk management and assessment strategies.

3. Pursuant to the importance of the subject, ISM CODE CELL has developed an “Advance Accident Investigation Course” which has a professional and scientific approach to accident investigation.

4. The course consist of three modules as follows:

Module I : Human Psychology, Accident Causation Theory

Module II: Material Factor

Module III: Practical Aspects of Accident Investigation

The course is of 16 Hours duration spreading over a period of 3 days, however, pursuant to the directives of ED (SM) it has be tailored and reduced to two days for the shore based SMS personnel.
5. The first module of the course shall be conducted at 1430 hrs sharp on 18th May, 2009 in the OPS Room.
